Volunteer Committees

Each Lakes of Aurora Swim Team family will be part of a volunteer committee to help our swim team run smoothly. There are 5 Committees plus an Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of volunteers who run the swim team programs/ budget and schedule. Please let us know if you are interested in an Executive Board position!

We could not have a swim team without help from each and every one of you, so thank you in advance for your help! Upon registration you will choose your preferred committee choice. While nothing is guaranteed, we will do our best to honor your preferences. Each committee will have a chairperson, whose primary responsibility is coordinate the committee schedule for both home and away meets. 

Within your committee you will be assigned an active role at three swim meets this season.

Timers (Chairperson plus 5 Families Needed)

    Each committee member will be responsible for timing and recording the time for one lane during at least three meets.

    Committee Chairperson will:

    • Coordinate a schedule to cover the timing needs for each meet.
    • Train the committee members on how to perform timing duties.
    • Coordinate timing supplies to ensure they are at each meet before the meet starts.

    Lane Line Judge/Runner (Chairperson plus 4 Families Needed)

      Each committee member will be responsible for being either a lane line judge or runner during at least three meets. The lane line judge records the order of swimmers in any given race on paper, which the runner than takes over to the scorer's table. 

      Committee Chairperson will:

      • Coordinate a schedule to cover the lane line judge and runner needs for each meet.
      • Train the committee members on how to perform these duties.
      • Coordinate supplies to ensure they are at each meet before the meet starts.

      Scorer (Chairperson plus 2 Families Needed)

        Each committee member will be responsible for scoring during at least three meets. The scorer keeps track of running team scores during entire meet. You will use a scorer's sheet that has all the information for calculating - it is formula driven and is very straight-forward. 

        Committee Chairperson will:

        • Coordinate a schedule to cover the scoring needs for each meet.
        • Train the committee members on how to keep score.
        • Coordinate supplies to ensure they are at each meet before the meet starts.

        Awards (Chairperson plus 3 Families Needed)

        Each committee member will distribute awards during at least three meets.

        Committee Chairperson will:

        • Coordinate a schedule to cover the awards needs for each meet.
        • Train the committee members on how to distribute awards.
        • Coordinate supplies to ensure they are at each meet before the meet starts.
        • Monitor ribbon amounts to determine if more ribbons need to be ordered and alert the executive board when necessary.

        Concessions (Chairperson plus 3-4 Families Needed)

        Each committee member will work at the concessions stand or supply needed items as determined by the committee chairperson to cover the home meets this season. 

        Committee Chairperson will:

        • Purchase (with swim team funds) all concessions supplies needed (usually a one time Cosco trip for Gatorade, chips, candy, water).
        • They will determine the menu for each home swim meet (It has been pizza in the past, but does not have to be!)
        • Determine if any items are needed to be donated (in past years it has been fruit and ice, with occasional donations of mac and cheese or other foods).
        • Train the committee members on how to set up, work, and take down the concessions stand. Coordinate the schedule for the committee members to cover the concessions stand.
